Bike & Quad set-up

To do a basic roadbook navigation rallye like the 2012 Yilgarn Rallye, your bike or quad will need FOUR things……..

1. A roadbook holder.
2. A trip meter.
3. Fuel capacity to cover 100km between refuels.
4. A or B class registration for bikes and DPI permit for unregistered bikes and quad’s.

Quads and unregistered bikes must have working head (high and low beam) and tail lights, brake light (operated by either or both hand or foot brake lever); audible horn and it is strongly recommended that at least one mirror be fitted to the machine (If only one mirror is used then it must be on the right of the handlebars).

For further information of navigation equipment set up please see the “Rallye Virgin’s” Pocket Guidebook, you can

Quad & Unregistered Bike Licencing / Rego

The quad or unlicenced bike licencing process is VERY VERY easy for anyone wishing to enter a quad or unregistered bike in the 2012 Yilgarn Rallye.  All you have to do is provide us the organisers at the time of submitting your entry:

  • make
  • model
  • year
  • weight
  • frame # (if it has one)
  • engine #
  • length in metres

We the organisers then submit that information to the WA Department of Planning & Infrastructure (DPI) for a group event permit. DPI then grants each quad or bike a 1 month event licence. AND THAT’S IT !! Easy eh !! The permits cost $40. So you do not have to go and get it registered at the local RTA/police etc, and the quad / bike does not have to go over the pits or be inspected etc. We do it for you. Note: It will still need to pass MA scrutineering, so the quad / bike still needs to have

  • working head light
  • tail lights
  • brake light
